If you’re the kind of person who loves getting the adrenalin pumping or doesn’t mind getting a little dirty, a holiday in Wagga Wagga is for you! There are plenty of sports and activities to enjoy, including: the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre, Wagga Bowl and Diner (ten pin bowling), Riverina Ski Sports, paintball, Belisi Equine Park, Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre, laser tag, Jump’n’Putt (mini golf), Warbirds Aerial Adventures and Ozi Big Dig (drive a CAT digger).

Art

The region is actually quite well known for its art scene, so if you have the time we definitely recommend stopping into a gallery or two (you might even find a piece to take home with you!). Visit the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Paddock Art Gallery, National Art Glass Collection, Gallery43 and the Strayleaves Art Studio (to name a few). Information on the current exhibits can be found on the gallery’s website or through the Visitor’s Centre.

Nature

Why not get outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine? The beautiful Botanic Gardens and Victory Memorial Gardens are the perfect place for a wander or a relaxed picnic. If you’re more into walking, however, the Wiradjuri Walking Track or Livingstone National Park and Conservation Area are what you’re looking for. Other natural attractions include Lake Albert, Wagga Beach and the Wollundry Lagoon & Ampitheatre.

Culture & Heritage

Those who are more interested in the culture and heritage of the area will not be disappointed. We recommend dropping by the Rail Heritage Museum, RAAF Wagga Heritage Centre, Steam and Vintage Museum, Museum of the Riverina (two locations around the city) and the Temora Aviation Museum. This provides the perfect opportunity to learn more about transportation and war involvement in Australia. A perfect (and educational) way to entertain the kids!

Wine & Beer

If you’re looking to sit back and relax, you might be interested in touring the many wineries and breweries in the surrounding region. In particular, we recommend Borambola Wines, the Charles Sturt University Winery, Cottontails Winery, Euonyhareenyha Winery, Wagga Wagga Winery and the Thirsty Cow Brewery. Many of these locations offer cellar doors and restaurants, allowing you to linger over a glass of local produced wine or beer.

Markets

When you have a few hours to kill over the weekend, visiting one of the local markets is the perfect way to explore Wagga Wagga a little further and even pick up a souvenir or two to take home. A Farmer’s Market is held on the second Saturday of each month, Sunday Markets are held on the third Sunday of each month, Eat Local Thursday is a pop up market designed to enjoy local produce held every Thursday, and the River & Wren Boutique is held in August.
